Join us as we dive into the fun world of Mixed Media Painting! We’ll use acrylic inks, stencils, daubers, collage elements and more to create your own one of a kind painting. Follow my (Heidi’s) tips and tricks, watching how I do it first! You can follow my example painting or follow your own inspiration with the tools and supplies provided. We’ll have sheets that you can choose from in order to cut and paste powerful affirming messages onto your painting (or use stamps). We’ll focus on how to use the tools provided, exploring with colour, how to work thru “ugly” stages, tips for when you feel intimidated by the process and more. Our goal is to help you to become more comfortable with the mixed media process and to take home a finished painting! We look forward to spending time with you around the Soul Studio Table!!!

Our class example! You’ll cut and paste the words that resonate with you to create a positive affirmation mixed media painting.

Our class example! You’ll cut and paste the words that resonate with you to create a positive affirmation mixed media painting.

This is an example of using similar themes and the same starting points as the first painting, but choosing different colours and a different placement of butterflies. In this example the words were added digitally to the photo. However, you could brush the words on, add stickers (not provided in class), cut and paste words from the handout (provided), or stamp it! I love to give my participants many options so that they can flow with what inspires them.

A Little Book of Watercolour

A Little Book of Watercolour

Watercolour can be so fun and versatile but also intimidating. Bring a friend, grab some coffee and be prepared to get hooked! Our instructor has some fun but pretty exercises to help you to experience Watercolour, brush handling, some colour theory, working wet on wet, working in layers on other media and more! We’ll be cramming a lot into this class - so binding these exercises into a mini book will help you to remember what you learned and what you liked. At the end of class we’ll bind all the pages into a mini book (using the Zutter system). BUT - whatever pages you don’t like can go into the recycling with NO guilt! The book is designed so that you can continue to experiment at home and to take the exercises further at your own pace if so desired. We will be using My Stoneground Paint Company’s watercolour paints for this class - they are a Saskatchewan company and we are proud and honoured to work with their products!

Venue - Soul Paper

Date: October 18, 2019

Time: 6:30 to 9:00 pm

Fee: *info coming soon!

All supplies provided.

The Stripes exercise is one of my favourite exercises to learn the colour, to practice handling a brush, and to teach how to dilute the colour with water. It’s calming, meditative and creates beautiful results!

Leaves, stems and other such shapes are a great way to experience working wet on wet. It’s also a fabulous way to introduce how stunning a bit of metallic paint can be in small amounts.

We might not have time for the floral pages, but hopefully they’ll inspire you to experiment on your own at home!

Some of our pages will be saved for quotes and positive messages - started in class - but finished either at class or at home. It’ll be up to you how much detail and work you wish to put into this! But you’ll get a handout with prompts and ideas to take the exercises further at home.
